Connie (Moran) Barrett was born and raised in Rock Island, IL She graduated from Alleman High School and Knox College in Galesburg, IL majoring in Modern Languages, and spent time studying in Spain and Mexico. Connie worked as a VISTA volunteer assisting migrant farm workers in Indiana. She became an instructor of Transcendental Meditation and worked for a short time at Maharishi International University in Fairfield, IA. She also taught English as a Second Language for a time in Los Angeles and in Moline.
Connie worked for many years as a housing counselor with Project Now Community Action Agency, and as a Family Advocate for Casa Guanajuato. She teaches a certification class for foster/adoptive parents, and has three adopted kids and one grandchild. Connie enjoys reading, meditation and taking care of her granddaughter Emma.
